MODALITIES:
Generally "Blend" is the most effective and used for the bulk of the work we do, although we practice all three modalities of electrolysis, using the one best fitted for your needs and skin condition. In all cases we cataphorese the treated area to reduce redness and swelling.
There are three main types/modalities of electrolysis:
Galvanic, the oldest modality was discovered by an Opthalmologist in 1875. It is highly effective, and while it has been greatly modified since its discovery, it is still in use today. Galvanic current converts normal body salts and fluids in the follicle into a chemical capable of destroying the dermal papilla and the matrix.
Thermolysis, is also known as high frequency, radio wave and flash. It is a high frequency alternating current that generates heat when it comes into contact with the normal moisture in the hair follicles. This heat cauterizes and destroys the hair growing cells of the follicle.
Blend, the most recently developed modality is a combination of both currents, combining the quickness of thermolysis with the permanency of galvanic current.
Cataphoresis, is a skin conditioning DC mode where a small roller that is positive with respect to the electrode the client holds is rolled back and forth over the recently treated area. The current flow through the tissue causes vascular constriction in tissue near the surface and considerably reduces swelling and redness. Following every session and generally after covering a zone on the face we cataphorese that area. This important step is frequently skipped or overlooked by most electrologists for speed or economy of time.
STERILIZATION:
Our office strives to adhere to the guidelines set forth by:
We use only sterile disposable probes.
For the protection of our clients and ourselves, we utilize dry heat
sterilization.
This proven method of sterilization is widely recognized as one of the most reliable forms
of sterilization.
